VV Biotech has discovered a drug that contains RNA and by using this drug, the biofilm layers of various bacteria responsible for causing various biofilm-associated diseases can be degraded.

A biofilm is made of different types of microorganisms in which cells adhere to one another and regularly attaches to a surface. These adherent cells become embedded with a slimy extracellular matrix that is made up of lipid, RNA, DNA, polysaccharides which is difficult to remove because the bacteria make a thick protective layer and covers this layer like an umbrella so that no antibiotics works upon them due to which biofilm-associated disease cannot be treated easily.

According to researcher 12 patients per day dies due to biofilm-associated diseases.

There are various biofilm-associated diseases like Endocarditis, Septicemia, Meningitis, and Endophthalmitis which are more difficult to treat. Therefore, we are using the RNAi mechanism to degrade the bacterial biofilm for that our main aim is to degrade the biofilm made by various bacteria with the RNA due to which various biofilm-associated diseases can be treated.
