The immune system is a network of biological processes that protects us from diseases and keeps us healthy. It is spread throughout the body and involves many types of cells, tissues, proteins and organs.

Our immune system holds the ability to distinguish between the body’s own tissue and the foreign tissue. Even the dead and faulty cells are recognized and thrown out of the body by the immune system.

The actual reason behind someone developing certain autoimmune diseases is yet to be identified. However, not all autoimmune diseases are fatal, yet some of them could lead to severity and a shorter life span. Challenges

Our Approach on Autoimmune Diseases

The prevalence of autoimmune diseases is becoming a major concern worldwide. In a layman’s language, autoimmune disorders/diseases are the ones which occur after our body's own immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the healthy tissues in our body. Autoimmune diseases are generally lifelong. Once a person develops an autoimmune disease, he/she is likely to carry it for the entire life span. The reason behind the outbreak of the autoimmune diseases, that are caused due to the overexpression of the body's own immune system is still a subject of deep research.

Moreover, the existing drugs or the immune-suppressants not only kills the pathogens or antigens but, also damages the healthy cells.

Here, at Vastu Vihar Biotech we are unlike the existing solutions, focusing on developing a drug molecule that is capable of targeting specific gene expression or the pathways involved in the development of certain autoimmune diseases. The mechanism behind our drug is based on cytokines and chemokines profiles which are released from our own body.

The cytokines and the chemokines (a specific type of cytokine) are the proteins responsible for sending signals to the immune system to respond to various foreign particles or antigens. However, in case of a cytokine-chemokine storm, these chemicals are produced at a much higher rate than normal. This overproduction causes positive feedback on other immune cells to occur, which ultimately leads to organ damage. We are therefore, focused on the downregulation of the overproduced cytokines and chemokines which occurs in specific diseases that we are working on.

We also feel, adapting new techniques and advancing the research and development work related to autoimmune diseases, keeping Ribozyme at the center will help to achieve novel therapeutic solutions for such diseases. After deep research and multiple experimental works, we have been able to come up with some solutions that could prove to be a major breakthrough in the coming years. So far, our studies suggest that;

Ribozyme based therapy offers a powerful method for identifying specific targets for auto immune diseases inhibitors.
Extracellular vesicle therapeutic agents could prove to be a potential therapeutic solution.
Exosomal based therapy assists both T-cells and NK cells in our immune system and helps the inhibited cells to communicate.
